Pure sea salt from Salt Spring Island, British Columbia

Sel artisanal fait sur Salt Spring Island, British Columbia

This beloved cake recipe is from the southwest part of France – it’s sort of a custard type dessert loaded with flavour. We love adding nectarines but you can try with all sorts of fruits. And it’s so easy to make! We hope you enjoy it.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 large nectarines
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g milk
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/3 cup of flour (all purpose but you can use corn flour as a great gluten free option)
  • 50g of butter + a bit more to layer the cake mold
  • Pinch of natural fleur de sel
  • Vanilla (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Peel the nectarines (choose ripe nectarines for greater sweetness).

Butter the cake mold.

Mix the eggs, milk, sugar, flour and butter in a bowl.

Slice the peeled nectarines and cut into chunks. Place the nectarines first in the bottom of the cake old and pour the batter on top.

Pre-heat the oven to 390 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 40 minutes or until the top of the cake is a golden-brown (time may vary depending on your oven).

Et voilà! Bon appétit les amis.
